Agip Donates Relief Materials To Bayelsa

Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) has donated relief materials worth millions of naira to the Bayelsa State government for victims of the flood disaster in the state.

Presenting the relief materials to the state government, the Managing Director of NAOC, Ciro Pagano who was represented by Geovani Salvini said the gesture is to identify with displaced victims of the flood.

“We understand the enormous burden the situation has placed on the shoulders of government and its resources. This is why we have come today to commiserate with the government and good people of the state and offer the accompanying materials,” he said.

Items donated included bags of rice, blankets, mosquito nets, pillows, tomatoes, water, noodles and medicines among others.

The items according to the Managing Director are for victims for her host communities in particular and Bayelsa State in general.

“This is indeed a very trying period for the government and good people of the state and our host communities in particular. We want you to know that as a company, we share in your plight and join forces with all men of good will and pray that this gesture will go a long way in providing succor,” he said.

Responding on behalf of Governor Seriake Dickson, the deputy governor, Rear Admiral John Jonah (rtd) expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Agip Oil Company for the gesture and for identifying with the state at its trying moment.

Jonah said the state has witnessed quite a serious devastation in this period which is immeasurable and urged the company to consider the post flood effects in its programmes.

According to him, “In Yenagoa, the flood which has affected about three quarter of the state capital is stabilizing but there are other areas that are just beginning to experience the floods in the state.
