Newly elected Chairman of Egbema Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation EGCDF, Chief Micheal Johnny yesterday stated that it is incumbent on indigenes and the oil bearing communities in Egbema and Gbaramatu kingdoms to ensure that the existing peace and security is sustained.
He gave the charge yesterday in Warri, Delta State during the official inauguration of the new executives of the foundation and charged the various oil and gas communities in both kingdoms to desist from acts capable of causing a breach of law and order.
Johnny commended the immediate past Chairman, Mr. Edmund E. Doyah- Tiemo for his achievements assuring that the new leadership of the foundation shall improve on his hard work to effect the drastic change being collectively agitated for by all the oil communities.
“We shall embark on execution of projects across all the communities, but we must also ensure to live in harmony and put aside personal interest in order for the foundation to make much progress.
“Let me assure you that the new leadership of EGCDF shall work closely, and in harmony with Chevron Nigeria Limited, Federal government, Delta state government, security agencies and all other relevant agencies,” he stated.
In his remark, Mr. Deji Haastrup, general manager, PGPA, Chevron Nigeria Limited, expressed confidence that the Johnny led executives would deliver more on the socio-economic dividends to its member-communities and further realize the objectives of the GMoU upon which it operates.
