AUSTIN, Texas -- The University of Texas at Austin Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering opened three new laboratories with the aim of advancing energy research and changing how students learn about oil and gas drilling. The result of a $1.7-million gift from Baker Hughes, the total investment, including the lab projects, is close to $3 million.
