Blackout in C’River as TCN shuts down 330KV lines for repairs

Port Harcourt — Residents of Calabar, the capital of Cross River State and it environs are now experiencing total blackout, following a three day planned power outage by the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, which commences today.

The power outage which will last till Tuesday 3rd September 2019, according to TCN, is to enable its technical crew have a safe working space while installing a communication equipment on Ikot-Ekpene/Odukpani 330KV lines for improved service delivery.

Confirming the development, the management of the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHED, said her customers in Cross River State especially those residing in Calabar have been affected by the power outage.

PHED Manager, Corporate Communications, Mr John Onyi, appealed for the understanding of its customers in Calabar, as they wait patiently for the completion of the installation by TCN, which according to him, is aimed at serving them better.

“The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, PHED has received a report from the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, that there would be a 3-day planned power outage affecting Calabar metropolis and its environs, starting from 1st to 3rd September 2019.

“The outage will occur between 9.00am and 6.00pm on each day, thereafter, power will be restored from 6.01pm and last till 8.59am the next day.

“The planned outage is to allow the technical crew from Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, have a safe working space while installing communication equipment on Ikot- Ekpene-Odukpani 330kv lines for improved service delivery.”
